Today’s episode is going to be a little different — in the best kind of way. Instead of our usual format, I’m going to play a round-table conversation that a bunch of us recorded together at the recent Children’s Ministry Conference in Union City, Tennessee.
Now, before we jump in, let me set the stage a bit. This was the very first national conference hosted by the WPF Children’s Ministry Council outside of Southern California — and honestly, it couldn’t have gone better. It was held at First Pentecostal Church, pastored by Bro. Dwayne Uzzle, and I don’t think we could’ve picked a more perfect location. The place is central, the church has an incredible children’s ministry, and the whole team absolutely crushed it with setup, decorations, and organization.
It kicked off Thursday morning with something none of us from California could quite believe — we went into a public school to do a full children’s service. Eric Williams and his team from Union City have been ministering in several schools for a while, and this time we got to join them. Over 300 kids packed into the gym, and yes, we got to preach Jesus in a public school… and even blow things up a little with my exploding bubbles and balloons lesson. Only in Tennessee, folks.
From there, the conference rolled straight into sessions Friday and Saturday, with around 25 churches represented and about 110-plus people attending. Every part of it was top-notch — the sessions, the fellowship, the food (which the host church graciously donated), and especially the services. Friday night’s service was focused on the theme of God’s love — the kind you can’t outrun no matter what you’ve done — and by the end of the night, 14 kids and one adult had received the gift of the Holy Ghost. Then, on Sunday morning, Pastor Uzzle hosted one more children’s service, and another 16 kids received the Holy Ghost, bringing the total to 31 for the weekend. Absolutely incredible.
After the final sessions, a bunch of us sat down to record a big group podcast. Picture about ten tired, over-caffeinated children’s ministers crowded around a table, trying to make one microphone work while spilling water everywhere and laughing way too hard. It was chaotic. It was hilarious. And it was a lot of fun.
So that’s what you’re about to hear — a raw, unfiltered conversation straight from the end of an unforgettable weekend. It may not always make sense, but you’ll feel the energy, the laughter, and the love for children’s ministry that filled that room.

This week’s episode, Faithfulness Attracts Favor, dives into the story of King Asa in 2 Chronicles 15 and the principle that when God is with you, people are drawn… you don’t have to chase favor, it finds you. Between object lessons, hilarious Sunday bloopers, and some good old-fashioned dad jokes, hopefully something here you like.

Phillip flies solo this week after a stretch of travel through Oklahoma City and Laurel, Mississippi.
You’ll get a dad joke with a laugh track, a blooper that accidentally teaches “two gods” instead of one, and some victories straight from the classroom and altar. There’s a fishing story about servant leadership, a message from the mission field with Delaney in Jordan, an object lesson that proves “Who’s Really Doing the Work,” and a revival of a classic from the archives, “Disappearing Ink: Destroying the Dream.”
Then, Phillip wraps it all up with a reflective Final Thought called “Seeing the Bigger Picture.” It’s a reminder that sometimes what we think is “the problem” in ministry, the kids, the lesson, the chaos, isn’t the problem at all. Maybe we just need to step back, pray more, and trust the Builder who’s working in every room.

**Apologies for the audio issues in this one! We tried to clean it up but if we filtered the echo too hard, it eliminated bits and pieces of the more distant voices... We did the best we knew how and hope you still enjoy it!**
In this special episode of the Apostolic Children’s Ministry Podcast, Phillip is on the road in Oklahoma City with the Sunday school staff from Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, led by James and Kim Pelletier. Over the past few years, their friendship has grown through a shared passion for children’s ministry, and every visit is filled with encouragement, laughter, and Kingdom vision.
This episode breaks from the usual format and offers a fresh, unscripted conversation with a team that is making a powerful impact. Tune in to hear their heart for kids, their love for teaching, and the culture they’ve built at their church.

This week’s episode is full of bloopers, victories, fresh ideas, and a reminder about trusting the “captains” God has placed in our lives. Plus, we dig into how to overcome the “curse of knowledge” in teaching, making sure every child, not just the ones who already know the “song”, can understand and feel the truth we share.

This week’s episode dives into the ups and downs of Sunday School with fresh bloopers, victories, and a lesson from fishing: it’s not about the bait, it’s about the catch. From toddlers to preteens, we talk about adapting your teaching to every age group, keeping things fun without losing focus, and making sure your “bait” leads to the real prize: kids building a relationship with God.
You’ll also hear practical object lessons, a voice from the outside, and wisdom from the archives, all wrapped in stories, and encouragement for your children’s ministry.
